Gamecock has released a short documentary about how Les Claypool’s music is upping the ante on the play experience in Mushroom Men. Matt Piersall of Gl33k explains it all.
Adding in environment interaction along with the music beat is going to go a long way in making this game really stand out amoung other platformers, I really cant wait to play (and year) the game. Quick question if anyone knows, will the music in Rise of the Fungi feature new/the same Les Claypool tracks or new/original music exclusive to the RoTF?
We knew from the very beginning that we wanted the audio to be important and special in Mushroom Men. Not just a background element or an optional layer, the music and sound effects had to be integrated with the game itself. That’s why we hooked up with the Gl33k boys very early on, back when they were working at Okratron 5000 up in Dallas.
And the DS does feature some of Les Claypool’s music. It’s amazing how well it translated to the DS’s limited hardware. Gl33k works with a composer who is a master at converting full-on recorded music into the 1’s and 0’s required to make music on the Nintendo DS.
