GameTrailers got their hands on a couple of new exclusive Mushroom Men gameplay videos.

First is a collection of activities from the Morel Backyard level.

In the next clip, featuring the Earth Shiitake, notice the example of two-player cooperative gameplay. Player two (the yellow reticle) can grab objects in the environment and throw them at enemies using Sporekinesis while player one performs melee attacks and blocks the opponent’s attacks.

Check out the sweet trailer we put together for E3!

Another level review

Another level review, originally uploaded by Red Fly Studio.

We’re shipping a milestone at the end of this week, so we’re paying a lot of attention to the new levels that are being introduced this month.

On the big screen

Our media room is set up like a living room, so our playtesting experience closely matches how the end user will play the game. Plus, it’s comfy.

It’s always cool to see how interested people are in the game. We’re making enough ripples on a site the size of Gamespot to show up in the daily report of highest user activity, and we’re in very good company up there!

Damien is wrapping up the detailed gameplay scripting for his level. The open environment in the pit makes it easy for everyone to watch as Lead Designer Ryan plays through.

Kris is in fanboy heaven. His long-time idol Les Claypool is in the office and working on music for our game!

Our freshly reborn Mushroom Men website is online!

Along with the new site comes the news that Les Claypool (of “Primus” fame, and the creator of the theme songs for South Park and Robot Chicken) is providing music for the game. Very exciting times here at Red Fly Studio.

Very exciting, indeed!

Tightening up the graphics on level 3., originally uploaded by Red Fly Studio.

A lot of videogame development doesn’t actually consist of playing a game. It’s mostly building geometry and textures, animating movement states and other stuff that doesn’t really feel like playing games. But there are times when the only way to make sure you’re doing the job right is to just outright play the game and see your hard work in motion on-screen.

Just a quick little pic to show the current build of Mushroom Men for the DS. Zen Studios has done a great job pushing the Nintendo DS to its absolute limits, making this 3-D side-scrolling platformer look really nice.
