December 2008

Videogamer.com featured a great preview of Ghostbusters, giving equal time to the next-gen and Wii versions.

Atari has released an extensive playthrough video narrated by Creative Lead Dustin Dobson showing off a lot of the neat features specific to the Wii version. Watch it on Gamereactor. gamereactor

I’m very pleased that Boing Boing’s Offworld site picked up the story, as well.

The Awesomest Thing on the Internet today is Ghostbusters the videogame. TBT posted the high-res trailer for the Xbox360/PS3 version of the game.

Randy Nelson at Joystiq got his hands on both versions of Ghostbusters recently, and he shares his impressions in an extensive article on Joystiq.
If you’ll allow me to swell a bit with pride:

“At this point, our pick for the best-playing version goes to the Wii, hands down.”

Nice!

We knew from the start that Ghostbusters would draw a big crowd. Not just gamers, but most of the people we grew up with fell in love with Ghostbusters as kids. The release of the Ghostbusters trailer featuring some funny lines written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis pleases everyone.

Perhaps the best example is this posting from a blog dedicated to movies. The author Christopher Campbell freely admits that he hates games, but he’s such a huge Ghostbusters fan, even he is looking forward to seeing what comes from the minds of the original cast and the hands of developers Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studio.

Following yesterday’s big announcements and the release of the new trailer from Atari, Ghostbusters has received a ton of press these past couple of days.

My favorite headline:

Confirmed: Ghostbusters Video Game to be Greatest Thing Ever

High expectations, indeed. We won’t disappoint.newyorkentertainment

Even though our fellow developer Zen implemented Ghostbusters DS, the original design came from us, so we’re proud when people enjoy the handheld experience. ign_ds

Jared Rea at The Escapist is the first journalist I’ve seen give equal time to all three versions of Ghostbusters, DS, Wii and Xbox360/PS3, as they are all unique in their own ways.

This trailer features all the high-res graphics from the Xbox360/PS3 version of the game. It’s pretty cool.

AJ Glasser at Kotaku got his hands on the Wii version of Ghostbusters and recognized that we made it specifically for the Wii. Art, layout, controls: everything about Ghostbusters for the Wii is custom-designed to take maximum advantage of the Wii and target the Wii-owning audience.

… Luckily, Ghostbusters: The Video Game on Wii isn’t a port of the PS3/360 version, so much as a reimagining of the same game from the ground up…

Thanks AJ. We’re glad someone is finally paying attention to that critical detail.

This is my favorite article so far!

Australia’s Couriermail.com.au wrote up an article. International!

CVG posted a bunch of new screenshots of TRI’s PS360 build. Excitement for the title builds!

Worth Playing did a full write-up.

Bit-tech reports on the games. Ping their forums for more.

A cool aspect of working on this project is how the enthusiasm extends from the game world into the mainstream movie world. There have been countless movie-to-game projects, but few have as massive a following as Ghostbusters.

We’d like to remind everyone that the Wii version of the game will have every single line of dialog from the PS360 version of the game. Just because we’re putting a heavy emphasis on multiplayer doesn’t mean we won’t be using every asset provided by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and the other cast members. It would be pure folly to not integrate every line of genius dialog into our game!

heraldsun.jpg

Australia’s Herald Sun wrote up a nice article summarizing the game.

PocketGamer and Nintendic reported the announcement of the DS version.

kotaku.jpg

As always, feedback on Kotaku is passionate! Even though this article is focused on the PS360 build, I’d like to take this opportunity to point out that multiplayer (co-op, competitive and adversarial) are the key features focused on in the Wii build.
